The Azerbaijani participant of the "Voice" show in Russia, Emil Kadirov, has been arrested, said the Russian Investigative Committee, APA reports.
It was stated that Kadirovis suspected of fraud in the amount of 1.3 million rubles related to the Pushkin Card federal program.
According to the investigation's version, 31-year-old Kadirov acted together with his acquaintance, Elena Gurko, who is the deputy artistic director of the Eldar cinema-concert hall. Preliminary information suggests that the couple organized fake concerts at the Eldar cinema-concert hall for Emil, and tickets for the concerts were sold using Pushkin Cards. Indeed, no concert took place, but funds were transferred from the budget to the cinema-concert hall.
The total damage to the state budget is reported to be approximately 1.3 million rubles.
Authorities became interested in after noticing suspiciously large sums of money being spent on the singer's concerts from state funds.
A criminal case has been opened by the Moscow city branch of the Russian Investigative Committee on the charge of large-scale fraud.
