Arif Alishanov: New structure is set up under Az.TV
- I was appointed to this post by the executive order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Only the head of state, collective, public can assess my activity. I can only say that Azerbaijani President’s order on appointing me to the post of chairman of Azerbaijan TV and Radio Broadcasting CJSC was welcomed. The person who worked and grown up in Az.TV can solve all the problems of the TV channel. Several reforms have been carried out in broadcast-executive, production and technical fields. We achieved qualitative change of broadcast. We established admission commissions for not broadcasting law-quality telecasts. The Commission positively appreciates the telecasts coinciding with the standards and technical parameters. We organized competition to involve young announcers and reporters to the TV channel after 1992. 30 out of 50 competitors were employed. They had training in various editorials. They are functioning in “Newsâ€, “Morning†and other socio-political programs at present.
- Could you carry out reforms in the TV channel?
- The reforms are being carried out since the first day and they will be carried out. When I was appointed chairman of TV channel I stated that we will prefer professionalism and faithfulness to statehood in personnel selection. I am not interested in the personnel’s race, religion, language, birth place. I do not want to publicize the measures to be taken soon beforehand. We are carrying out reforms in the production and personnel field and this process will continue.
- There were personnel changes in AzTV and radio within a year. Can you say concrete statistics regarding it?
-30% of the stuff has been renewed, but we intend to reach the digit to 60-70%. We will not refuse to work with professional partners working for AzTV for a long time. Most of them are capable and talented people, they are old, though.
-Some personnel coming to AzTV quit it later….
-It is a productive process. It is not surprising if new personnel leave the television after working 1 or 2 months. It is not about political ambition or personal motives. Personnel invited to the television work for some time, then either chairmanship gets unsatisfied with the employee or vice-versa.
-Broadcasting of AzTV in Russia is a topic of negotiations between the two states. New channel is planned to be aired under AzTV. Is there any related preparation?
-First of all, we plan to establish new structure under AzTV. Some examinations have already been carried out. We will be able to broadcast our programs in a very short period if manage AzTV’s airing in Russia.
-Is it possible to take the same steps in other countries?
-This issue is regulated by the intergovernmental agreements. AzTV is able to broadcast programs in several languages if necessary./APA/
