The construction of “Silk Road” customs checkpoint between Georgia and Azerbaijan has been reflected in the Georgian Government’s new action plan, APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.
It was mentioned in the government plan presented to Georgia’s parliament by Irakli Kobakhidze, candidate for the position of the Prime Minister of Georgia, that active work on the construction of a new joint customs checkpoint between Georgia and Azerbaijan will be go on.
It was noted that the mentioned customs checkpoint will contribute to the development of transport and logistics capabilities of both states, as well as it will further strengthen transport and trade relations in the region.
According to the Government’s plan, the construction of highways in the direction of East-West will be continued and after wrapping up works, the time spent on traveling from Tbilisi to Batumi will be reduced to 3,5 hours.
