Addressing water issues crucial for agriculture and food security, as well as protecting the soil ecosystem, are among the major challenges facing the government, said Prime Minister Ali Asadov during the presentation of the Cabinet of Ministers' 2024 annual report at the Milli Majlis, APA reports.
He noted that ensuring food security in the country, increasing agricultural production (raising the self-sufficiency level), and maintaining stable prices remain among the main priorities. To achieve these goals, relevant support measures have been implemented.
"To efficiently utilize existing water resources, provide farmers with irrigation water, expand irrigation areas, and improve the ameliorative condition of the land, a total of 540 million manats have been allocated. During the reporting year, agricultural crops were irrigated an average of 3.3 times over an area of 1,453,000 hectares across the republic," - PM noted.
