Alat Free Economic Zone to increase Azerbaijan's strategic importance in transport corridors

The second meeting of the Working Group established for the Alat Free Economic Zone has been held, APA-Economics reports.

Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy, Head of the Working Group, Valeh Alasgarov, Chairman of the Board of the Authorized Institution of the Alat Free Economic Zone, and representatives of relevant state institutions took part in the meeting.

The meeting discussed the construction of sustainable infrastructure and public services for the efficient operation of investors in the Alat Free Economic Zone, projects being implemented in the area, and work on the construction of a cargo airport.

It was noted that the establishment of the Alat Free Economic Zone, which is significant for the diversification of the economy, completing in a short time for use by investors, thus making it one of the main drivers of the country's economy is of great importance. Attracting investors who provide services by using innovative technologies, ensuring cooperation between these investors and Azerbaijani companies, contributing to economic development, and creating new jobs are key goals.

It was emphasized that the favorable conditions and proposed benefits in the Alat Free Economic Zone are increasing investors' interest in the zone. In addition to bringing significant economic dividends to Azerbaijan, the Economic Zone will further strengthen the country's position in the region, and its strategic importance will grow in the international transport corridors of the East-West, North-South, and Central Corridor.
