Nar Mobile marks one millionth subscriber milestone

Baku. Aynur â€“ Veliyeva â€“ APA-Economics. The Nar Mobile, a company demonstrating dynamical growth in the Azerbaijan GSM market had held a press conference on achieving the number of 1,000,000 subscribers on January 28th, 2009.
Mr. Guido Helbich, General Director of Azerfon LLC noted while at the conference that according to the results of 2008, Nar Mobile occupies about 20% of Azerbaijan GSM market. The network of Nar Mobile covers 80% of country territory at the present.
â€œThe main aim of Nar Mobile is to constantly develop and become the customersâ€™ number one choice. We proudly announce that our customer base has exceeded over one million as a result of successful operating for less than 2 years,â€ Mr. Guido Helbich said.
The Nar Mobileâ€™s millionth subscriber, 18-year-old Ayhan Babazadeh, the student of the Baku State University was presented at the conference.
Taking into account that the millionth subscriber is a student, Nar Mobile presented to Mr. Ayhan Babazadeh a special Nar Mobile scholarship in order to assist him in gaining perfect education and becoming a valuable specialist for our country in future. Ayhan Babazadeh was awarded with a monthly AZN 500 scholarship donation till achieving his 4 year bachelor degree. Additionally, the Nar Mobile â€œmillionth subscriberâ€ was granted a notebook and a mobile phone.
Mr. Guido Helbich said the fast growing company achieved a 20% market within less than two years.
According to him, the company has installed about 450 new base stations in the capital and regions in order to increase quality of the network since its inception and expanded its coverage area to 80% of the country, compared to 40% a year ago.
Nar Mobile has roaming service agreements with 266 operators of 161 countries and 56 GPRS roaming agreements.
Azerfon was licensed by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic in December, 2005 to provide mobile services throughout the territory of Azerbaijan. The company launched its commercial activities in 21st of March, 2007 under brand name Nar Mobile
