The final hearing has been held on the criminal case initiated by the State Security Service (SSS) regarding Shohrat Mammadov, who is accused of treason by carrying out tasks assigned by foreign intelligence services, APA reports.
Today, at the Baku Military Court, a verdict was announced during the hearing chaired by Judge Zaur Hajiyev.
According to the verdict, Shohrat Mammadov has been sentenced to 16 years of imprisonment.
It should be noted that the accused, Shohrat Mammadov, was detained as a result of an operation conducted by the SSS in March of this year. He was charged under Article 274 (treason) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He is accused of deliberately committing treason in the form of espionage to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, state security, and defense capability of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
