Turkish deputies: "They betrayed our country"

Turkish MPs and politicians reacted harshly to the visit of Turkish writers to the territories of Azerbaijan occupied by Armenia, APA’s Turkish correspondent reports.

MP of Istanbul, member of the National Movement Party of Azerbaijan (MPP), Atilla Kaya condemned the visit of Turkish citizens to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and their statements against Turkey and Azerbaijan.

“There are crypto Armenians live In Turkey. Unfortunately, they act treacherously towards the country of which they are citizens. I condemn the people who, having gone to Armenia which committed genocide in Anadolu and in Azerbaijan, occupied 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan, making statements there against Turkey and Azerbaijan. I repeat, the issue of crypto-Armenians is a disturbing reality for Turkey. Visiting Armenia and the occupied territories of fraternal Azerbaijan and voicing the statements condemning us in this difficult period is an unacceptable step.”

A deputy from the People's Republican Party from Istanbul, Dursun Cicek, described the people who visited Karabakh as problem people: “They used to create problems for Turkey. We should not take seriously the words of these people who illegally visited to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. This is contrary to international law, their words have no power of influence. This is their personal opinion, it can not throw a day on the Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship, which has deep historical traditions.”

The chairman of the Vatan party, Dogu Perincek, accused these persons of assisting the occupiers: “These people visited the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia to prevent Azerbaijan's fair struggle for the return of the territories. But their attempts are doomed to failure, we will unite our forces and restore the territorial integrity of fraternal Azerbaijan.”

It should be noted that a criminal case has been opened in Azerbaijan in connection with the illegal visit of Turkish citizens to Nagorno-Karabakh.

As noted in the statement of the Prosecutor General's Office, there are well-founded suspicions that on September 22, 2017 citizens of the Turkish Republic Ufuk Aras, Ali Bayramoglu, Said Chekinoglu and Erol Katyrjyoglu, deliberately crossed internationally by conspiring persons in the Republic of Armenia and in the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, recognized state border of the Azerbaijan Republic without the consent and documents of the relevant executive authority, bypassing the checkpoint on the state border, that is, having passed through the territory uw Republic of Armenia illegally visited Khankendi and other settlements. In connection with this, on September 28, 2017, the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office for Serious Crimes instituted criminal proceedings under Article 318.2 (illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Ufuk Aras, Ali Bayramoglu, Said Chekinoglu and Erol Katyrjyoglu were brought in as suspects under the specified articles of the Criminal Code. By a court ruling, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen in their respect, they are declared on the international wanted list.

The law enforcement bodies of Turkey sent an appeal in connection with the detention of these persons and bringing them to justice.

Currently, the necessary investigative and operational measures in the case are continuing.
