UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman has congratulated the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of August 1 – Azerbaijani Language Day, APA reports.
The diplomat shared a video message on his social media platform X.
"The Azerbaijani language is a precious heritage that has passed your people's rich history, culture, and national identity from generation to generation. As you celebrate this remarkable day, I am confident that the Azerbaijani language and literature will continue to inspire future generations," the Ambassador said.
In the video message, the Ambassador also recited lines from the famous poem "Mother Tongue" by People's Poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzada.
Note that August 1 is observed in Azerbaijan as the Azerbaijani Alphabet and Azerbaijani Language Day. The day was established in 2001 by a decree signed by National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
