The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has abandoned the idea of its president, Gianni Infantino, to sell a share of the World Cup rights to private investors, APA reports citing New York Post.
According to a source, this decision was made due to harsh criticism of the project from football officials and a split within FIFA. It is noted that the International Football Federation underestimated the mood in Europe, whose national teams and clubs generate the largest share of football's revenue.
"They're not happy about this. They absolutely don't want to continue to be involved in this mess," the publication quotes one source as saying.
