Sahiba Gafarova attends Conference of Speakers of National and Regional Parliaments

Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova attended the Conference of Speakers of National and Regional Parliaments in the city of Midrand as part of her visit to the Republic of South Africa on July 31, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

In her speech, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis touched upon the profound transformations taking place in the modern system of international relations, ongoing conflicts, economic inequality, and the challenges posed by climate change. She emphasized that, at a time when confidence in international institutions is facing increasing pressure, parliaments cannot remain outside global decision-making processes. Expressing solidarity with the Pan-African Parliament and the parliaments of African countries, Sahiba Gafarova stressed the importance of Africa having a stronger voice and a more active role in the system of international relations.
