In September of this year, the Common Turkic Alphabet consisting of 34 letters was adopted, marking a historic step, Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan said at the 11th Summit of the Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States in Bishkek, APA reports.
President Erdogan described the adoption of the Common Turkic Alphabet as a symbol of the Turkic States' joint progress toward the future: "From now on, member countries should adopt this alphabet as a base. The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan are ready for this transition. It is important for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan to initiate the process of adopting the new alphabet."
