An attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic drugs into the country has been prevented, the Press Center of Azerbaijan’s State Border Service told APA.
Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat smuggling and the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being successfully continued.
On September 6, as a result of border search and operational measures conducted in the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service, a total of 38 kilograms 778 grams of narcotic drugs and 7,680 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances were discovered.
At 01:30, 21 kilograms 700 grams of narcotic drugs and 1,000 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances, which had been transported from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), were discovered in the service area of the border detachment and removed from illegal circulation.
At 04:10, another 17 kilograms 78 grams of narcotic drugs and 6,680 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances, which had been transported by paraglider, were discovered and removed from illegal circulation.
Operational and investigative measures regarding the cases are ongoing.
