The "Maritime Security Belt - 2025" exercises of the naval forces of Russia, Iran, and China begun at Iran's Chabahar port, APA's Moscow correspondent reports, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It was stated that in the coming days, the crews will carry out tasks such as freeing captured ships, conducting search and rescue operations at sea, and firing artillery at sea and air targets in the northern part of the Indian Ocean.
The Maritime Security Belt exercises are organized by Iran for the seventh time. This year, around 15 ships, auxiliary vessels, and combat boats, as well as naval aviation helicopters, participate in the exercises. Russia is represented by the "Rezkiy" and "Geroy Rossiyskoy Federatsii Aldar" corvettes, as well as the "Pechenega", a medium sea tanker from the Pacific Fleet.
China has sent a destroyer and supply ship to participate in the maneuvers.
Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation also stated that the goal of the exercises is to ensure maritime security, combat piracy and terrorism at sea, and protect maritime communications.
