It’s a proud for Azerbaijan that the Christians, Jews and Muslims peacefully coexist here,” US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar, who visited Nij settlement of Gabala, familiarized himself with the ancient Albanian church and met representatives of religious communities, told APA.
"I had a very productive visit to Gabala. My meeting with local authorities, students who learn English with financial support of the U.S. Embassy, International Art Exhibition in Gabala, acquaintance with "Beltman" piano factory, as well as Albanian church in Nij settlement, tourism potential of the region and activities carried out for the socio-economic development made a good impression on me. I had useful talks with the representatives of the Udis community. The fact of peaceful and safe living conditions of the Udis in Azerbaijan for thousand years shows that irrespective of language and religion, any ethnic minority can live in the atmosphere of tolerance and respect in your country.” The Ambassador highly estimated the preservation of Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage.
