Victoria Dementyeva – APA. “TANAP project will open a door for the Azerbaijani gas to Europe,” said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the press conference in Vienna, APA reports Austrian media. Highly estimating TANAP project, the President commented on the rival South Stream project of Russia: “We are not afraid of competition. On the contrary, competition is good for success, consumers and producers. The diversification of energy resources does not only mean the opening of new routes of transportation. In the case of Azerbaijan, this market is a new source and route.”
In his turn, Austrian President Heinz Fischer praised the energy cooperation between the two countries. He mentioned that the project for the delivery of the Azerbaijani gas to Europe will be defined in June.
Stating that together with the Azerbaijani President they discussed a number of bilateral projects, Heinz Fischer said they exchanged views on cooperation in the spheres of energy, infrastructure, tourism and health.
