Azerbaijanâ€™s Foreign Ministry spokesman meets with head of Public Diplomacy and Media Department at Egypt's Foreign Ministry

Baku – APA. Spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Elman Abdullayev met with Baher Helmy, Head of Public Diplomacy and Media Department at Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs during his visit to the country on May 16. The Foreign Ministry told APA that during the meeting Elman Abdullayev briefed his counterpart about Azerbaijan's foreign policy, humanitarian projects that it carries out and the main directions of its public diplomacy. He noted that as the two countries share historic friendly ties, Azerbaijan and Egypt can also cooperate on common objectives of the public diplomacy. In that regard, he touched on the issue of Palestine and said that Azerbaijan will be hosting donor conference for Palestine in Baku in June this year.

Touching on the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan and its consequences, Elman Abdullayev emphasized the political significance of the resolutions adopted regarding the conflict at Sharm Al Sheikh Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement and Cairo Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and said that Azerbaijan highly values Egypt's position on this matter.

In his turn, Baher Helmy spoke about the historic friendly and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Egypt and underlined that Egypt attaches huge importance to developing its relations with Azerbaijan. He also pointed out that as in other spheres, there are opportunities for bilateral cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of public diplomacy.
