Ambassador: â€œIran respects Vienna Convention, but every country has its own views, rules and regulationsâ€

But we have to take into account that every country has its own views, rules and regulations,” ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayeen told APA.

The diplomat said that the Azerbaijani citizens were arrested because of their illegal acts and the judiciary system will investigate this issue: “We respect Vienna Convention. Of course every country has its own rules. We don’t know when the meeting with the detained persons will be held. The process is going on. Taking into account good relations between the two countries we do not want such problems.”

Asked why the staff of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz can not meet with the detainees in accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention, Ayeen said that it happens with the Iranian citizens in Azerbaijan. The ambassador added that he has no further information on the charges brought against ANAS employee Khalida Khalid and Shamkhal Huseynov.
