We believe that if Russia's confiscated assets are fully returned to Ukraine, our country could become more armed.
The Ukraine issue was discussed at Baku Global Forum
Chairwoman of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko spoke at the "Towards Peace" panel held within the framework of the XII Baku Global Forum, APA reports.
"Some countries should support Ukraine's independence"
Kateryna Yushchenko stated that some countries are trying to dictate to Ukraine instead of supporting its independence: "For us, this is not merely a territorial issue. We want to prevent the destruction of people, the torture, and the devastation of libraries in the occupied territories. Therefore, rather than dictating to us, some countries should consider our will and allow us to protect our independence."
"NATO membership is not the cause of the war"
Yushchenko emphasized that Ukraine's NATO membership was not on the agenda when Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. She pointed out that it is wrong to portray the NATO issue as the main reason for the war.
"The world recognizes the aggressor"
Kateryna Yushchenko added that the international community clearly sees the aggressor and the victim in the Russia-Ukraine conflict: "Russia is a state with imperialist ideas."
Russia previously recognized Crimea as part of Ukraine
Yushchenko also touched upon Ukraine's past experiences with agreements with Russia. According to her, in 1991, Russia recognized Crimea as part of Ukraine and accepted the results of the national referendum.
