Today, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, and Co-Chairman of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran Shahin Mustafayev, met with Farzaneh Sadeghi, the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Co-Chair of the Commission, APA reports, citing the Cabinet of Ministers.
The meeting was held with the participation of expanded delegations.
The discussions emphasized the importance of contacts between the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in determining the bilateral agenda and the development of interstate relations across various sectors.
It was noted that agreements reached at the presidential level in the transportation sector serve as a roadmap for both governments. The parties expressed satisfaction with the implementation of several mutually beneficial projects and the continued fruitful cooperation on other important initiatives. These projects are aimed at expanding transportation links between the two countries and enhancing the regional transportation and logistics potential.
The cooperation in the energy sector was also highlighted as being successful, with exemplary projects underway. The importance of the Azerbaijan-Iran collaboration on the Khudafarin and Qiz Qalasi hydroelectric plants on the Araz River, as well as the Ordubad and Marazad hydropower stations, was emphasized. These infrastructure projects are of great significance for both countries and contribute to development and progress in the region.
The successful projects in the oil and gas sector were also mentioned, with recognition of new opportunities for cooperation in this area.
During the visit, the co-chairs will familiarize themselves with the implementation status of several bilateral projects, as well as the operations of some infrastructure facilities.
At the end of the meeting, the original copies of the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the 16th meeting of the State Commission on Economic, Trade, and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran, held in Tehran on January 22 of this year, were exchanged in both Azerbaijani and Persian languages.
