Edward Nalbandian: “I am not against the tripartite meeting of the foreign ministers in New York”

Speaking about the OSCE Minsk Group US Co-Chair Mathhew Bryza’s idea that “Turkey can assist Armenia to show more flexible position”, Nalbandian said that the co-chair made a mistake. “Probably he intended to say Azerbaijan, but not Armenia. Both Turkish and Azerbaijani leaderships used the phrase of “One nation and two states” for many times. I think idea of Turkey’s influence on Armenia was inflated”.
Edward Nalbandian said he was not against the tripartite meeting with his Turkish and Azerbaijani counterparts in New York. “We reached agreement for this meeting with the Turkish foreign minister Ali Babacan in Yerevan on September 6. Mr. Babacan suggested tripartite meeting. I was not against it”.
The Armenian foreign minister noted that there were good grounds for the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “These grounds can create good opportunities for the regional cooperation between all countries”. Noting that OSCE Minsk Group’s format justified itself, Nalbandian said this format was supported by the international community. “Negotiations toward the settlement of the conflict are going on. The negotiations are going within the previous format and on the basis of previous proposals of the Minks Group’.
