The Paris Court of Appeal has upheld the ruling against French far-right politician Marine Le Pen over the misuse of European Union funds, but reduced the ban on her running for elected office to two years, France 24 reports.
According to the court's ruling, Marine Le Pen was sentenced to three years in prison. Two years of the sentence were suspended, while the remaining one year is to be served under electronic monitoring with an ankle bracelet.
In addition, the court reduced the ban on her running for elected public office to two years. As the ban has been calculated from March 31, 2025, Marine Le Pen is now eligible to run in France's 2027 presidential election.
