The situation in the South Caucasus will be one of the main topics of discussion during the meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said while answering questions from APA's Türkiye bureau.
He noted that, along with regional, global and bilateral issues, the situation in the South Caucasus will also be discussed during the meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump.
"The South Caucasus is of great importance. The existing problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan have largely been resolved. We are now at a stage that is very close to the signing of a peace agreement," Yılmaz said.
The Vice President noted that one of the main issues on the agenda is also the Zangezur corridor.
"The opening of the Zangezur corridor will contribute to strengthening ties between Türkiye and Central Asia, while also supporting the development of the Middle Corridor. We all want to see this transport route, stretching from China to Europe, become even stronger," he stressed.
Cevdet Yılmaz added that Türkiye is making active efforts both to achieve lasting peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia and to fully normalize Türkiye-Armenia relations.
"We share similar views with the United States on this issue. Therefore, it is natural that the issue of the South Caucasus will be discussed during the Erdoğan-Trump meeting," the Turkish Vice President noted.
