The Russian citizenship of Shirvan Karimov, head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia's Samara region, has been revoked, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

According to information obtained by APA's Moscow bureau, Shirvan Karimov, whose Russian citizenship was revoked, is currently in Azerbaijan.

It was reported that he was informed about the revocation of his Russian citizenship while he was in Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia has been subjected to pressure for more than a year. During this period, the Russian citizenship of the heads of Azerbaijani diaspora organizations operating in several regions of Russia, including Moscow, has been revoked, and decisions have been made to expel them from the country.

Last September, the Russian citizenship of Bakhtiyar Hasanov, chairman of the Moscow Azerbaijani National Cultural Autonomy, was revoked. It was reported some time ago that he had been placed in a temporary migrant detention center pending his deportation from the country.
