On July 7, a telephone conversation was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, Vivian Balakrishnan,  the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

During the telephone conversation, the current state and prospects of development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Singapore, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, were discussed.

The ministers emphasized the existing potential for expanding cooperation in the areas of political dialogue, mutual visits, economy, trade, investment, digital transformation, innovation, transport and logistics, education, and human capital development, and underscored the importance of the steps being taken to further develop the bilateral legal and contractual framework.

The importance of cooperation within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations and other international organizations, was emphasized, and views were exchanged on candidacies for elected bodies of international organizations.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed about Azerbaijan's decision to introduce a visa-free regime for Singaporean citizens starting from August 1, expressing confidence that this step would make a significant contribution to expanding contacts between the peoples, developing business ties and tourism, as well as further deepening bilateral relations.

Regional security issues were also discussed during the telephone conversation. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the other side about the efforts being carried out to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region in the post-conflict period.

In addition, attention was drawn to the large-scale restoration and reconstruction works being carried out in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, as well as the importance of opening transport and communication routes in the region in terms of promoting economic integration and strengthening mutual trust.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that Azerbaijan's relations with the Central Asian countries have been elevated to the strategic level in recent years, and that, within this framework, cooperation in the C6 format, as well as the Caspian Sea, the Middle Corridor, and other regional connectivity projects, have made an important contribution to promoting sustainable economic integration across Eurasia.

During the telephone conversation, the parties also exchanged views on other regional issues of mutual interest.
