Uzbekistan President wraps up his official visit to Azerbaijan

Baku-APA. Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov attended an opening ceremony of a monument to the great Uzbek poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Narimanov District of Baku on September 12.
Speaking at the ceremony, Azerbaijanâ€™s President Aliyev said that this event became a landmark in the history of relations between Uzbek and Azerbaijani peoples.
He added that all works crated by Alisher Navoi were translated into Azeri language and as a poet, he had great influence on the development of Uzbek literature and the literature of the Orient in general.
He said there have always been friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and pointed to the monument as another indication of that friendship.
"Important events in the life of our peoples such as the opening of the monument to Alisher Navoi in Baku, the naming of one of the central streets for a great representative of the Uzbek people Mirza Ulugbey are typical manifestations of mutual friendship and love, the depth of mutual affection in our relationship. I am confident that this event will forge even closer relations between our countries in the future", he noted.
Uzbekistanâ€™s President Islam Karimov recalled Ilham Aliyevâ€™s participation in the opening ceremony of a monument to Nizami Ganjavi in front of Tashkent State Pedagogical University four years ago.
He added that relations with Azerbaijan are fundamentally different from relations with other states because of spiritual unity.
He expressed gratitude to the President and people of Azerbaijan for the erection of the monument to Alisher Navoi in Baku.

Then, the presidents laid a wreath at the monument.

On September 12, Uzbek President also held a meeting with Sheikh-ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazadeh, the Chairman of Caucasian Muslims Office.

Islam Karimov wrapped up his two-day visit and left for his country.
