Jose Manuel Barroso: â€œOil and Gas conference in Baku is the result of fruitful collaboration between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan

The EC President valued this conference as a result of the fruitful collaboration between the presidents of both countries. â€œIn this respect, I would also like to express my satisfaction on the enhanced co-operation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. I hope this process will continue and further contribute to resolve issues concerning hydrocarbons in the Caspian Seaâ€. Barroso said Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan were important and strategic partners of the EU. â€œOur cooperation goes beyond existing relationships to offer a deeper political relationship and economic integration. â€œIndeed the EU has strengthened its energy ties with both countries via Memoranda of Understanding. As regard our host country, the EU put into place an Energy Reform Financial Support Program specifically designed to assist in implementing Azerbaijanâ€™s key priorities in the energy sector. Last but not least the EU fully recognizes and appreciates Azerbaijan’s difficult and courageous decisions in the advancement of energy diversification and securityâ€. At the end Barroso wished very constructive discussions and every success for the conference.
