No one could have predicted it after their 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Colombia, not many would have pictured it after a drab 0-0 with Japan, but Greece have done it - they defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 to go through to the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time in their history.

And they did it in the most dramatic style; Georgios Samaras smashed home a penalty in the last minute that left the white shirts of Greece bouncing with glee, and the green shirts of the Ivorians trying to disappear into the grass.

Andreas Samaris had put Greece ahead at the end of the first half. The substitute pounced upon a Cheick Tiote mistake, played a neat one-two with Samaras, and then fired past Boubacar Barry.
