Speaking to reporters during an event in İstanbul on Tuesday, Aysal said they have given Terim 48 hours to decide on the new contract. He said that the management will prepare to search for a new coach based on Terim's decision.
“We have to make a decision with Terim. This decision will be made within 48 hours. This issue will also be discussed during our upcoming board meeting. If something is spoken about too much, it turns into a problem even though it was not a problem in the beginning. We have to make a decision that will be beneficial for both our team and the national team. This is also very important for Terim's comfort. This problem will be resolved as soon as possible,” Aysal noted.
In response to claims that Aysal has already started to meet with new possible coaches for the team, Aysal said that he has not met with any coaches thus far, adding: “I will state clearly that I have not tried to find a new coach nor did I appoint any other person to do that. However, if it becomes necessary in the future, we will undoubtedly introduce new professionals to the team.”
In three-way discussions between the coach, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Yıldırım Demirören and Aysal in August, Demirören originally offered Terim the job of coaching the national team for four years in a deal that would have required him to leave Galatasaray at the end of the season. Terim, however, only agreed to stay on with the national team for one season and may keep his current coaching position with Galatasaray.
