PSG wins French Super Cup for the 14th time

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Marseille in the French Super Cup match. The match took place in Kuwait, APA reports.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw after regulation time. Ousmane Dembélé (13th minute) and Gonçalo Ramos (90+5) scored for the winners, while Mason Greenwood (76, penalty) scored for the losers. In the 87th minute, PSG defender William Pacho scored an own goal. The Parisians won the penalty shootout 4-1.

Russian PSG goalkeeper Matvey Safonov missed the match due to injury. On December 17, the player suffered a hand injury during the penalty shootout against Brazilian side Flamengo (1-1, 2-1 on penalties) in the Intercontinental Cup match.

PSG won the French Super Cup for the 14th time, a tournament record. The Parisian club has won the last four editions of the competition. PSG's closest rival is Lyon, which has won the competition eight times.

The tournament features the French champion and the winner of the French Cup. Last season, PSG won both competitions, so Marseille qualified for the French Super Cup as the runners-up of the French championship.
