Carlos Cordeiro, senior adviser to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, has resigned from his position, Apasport.az reports.
Cordeiro said he made the decision in protest against FIFA's plan to sell part of the commercial rights to the FIFA World Cup.
Cordeiro stated that he had no involvement in the initiative and strongly opposes the proposal.
"As senior adviser to the FIFA President, a former banker, and a lifelong football fan, I cannot remain silent while FIFA considers selling a stake in the World Cup. I had no role in developing this proposal, and I firmly oppose it. It is a bad deal for FIFA's member associations, for football, and for its long-term future," Cordeiro said.
It should be noted that FIFA President Gianni Infantino has approved a plan to sell part of the commercial rights to the FIFA World Cup to private investors. The proposal has sparked widespread criticism within the football community, and Carlos Cordeiro resigned in protest against the plan.
