Norway swept into the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinals with an amazing 2-1 win over Brazil, as striker Erling Haaland delivered a brilliant performance, scoring both goals for his team toward the end of the match, APA reports.

Neither team could score in the first half, but demonstrated high-quality play, with Norway surviving a penalty in the 14th minute. Norway's goalkeeper, Orjan Nyland, fended off several subsequent attempts by the Brazilian team. Haaland finally overcame the opponent's defense in the 79th minute and again in the 90th, after a few attempts by the Canarinho to equalize. However, the drama did not end there, with Neymar Jr. first receiving a yellow card, then converting a penalty right before the end of the match, without preventing Brazil's defeat.

Haaland made a new record, scoring in each of his last 14 competitive matches for Norway, for a total of 27 goals. History repeated itself after 28 years, and Norway's 2-1 win over Brazil in France in 1998, their last World Cup clash.
