England defeated France 6-4 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup third-place playoff at Miami Stadium, surviving France's second-half comeback after building a four-goal lead before halftime, APA reports.
Declan Rice opened the scoring in the third minute before Ezri Konsa doubled England's lead in the 18th. Bukayo Saka struck twice for England in the 37th minute and again in first-half stoppage time.
France cut into the deficit as Kylian Mbappe scored in the 48th minute before Bradley Barcola added one six minutes later. Mbappe then netted France's third in the 66th. However, England's Saka completed his hat trick in the 87th minute, bringing the result to 5-3. Ousmane Dembele replied in the sixth minute of stoppage time but Jude Bellingham sealed England's win two minutes later.
