Egyptian national team has reached the 1/8 finals of the World Cup

The Egyptian national team defeated Australia in a penalty shootout in the Round of 32 of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Dallas, USA, APA reports.

Regular and extra time ended with a score of 1:1. In the penalty shootout, the Egyptians prevailed, winning 4:2.

Emam Ashour scored for Egypt in regulation time (13th minute). In the 55th minute, Mohamed Hani scored an own goal. Late in extra time, Australian goalkeeper Matthew Ryan replaced Patrick Beach before the penalty shootout. The Egyptian players converted all four of their attempts.

Egypt finished second in Group G, while Australia finished second in Group D. In the Round of 16, Egypt will face the winner of the match between Argentina and Cape Verde, which will take place on the night of July 4, Moscow time. Egypt's next playoff round match will take place on July 7 in Atlanta.
