Arda Turan has officially been named the head coach of Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk, APA reports.
Turan recently left his post as manager of Eyüpspor, who play in the Turkish second division.
Turan played for Atletico Madrid for six years before playing for Barcelona, before returning to Turkey.
The Turkish manager will work towards returning Shakhtar to the summit of the Ukrainian Premier League after a few years of struggling.
This season, Shakhtar finished third in the league behind Dynamo Kyiv and Oleksandriya.
