The salaries of all military personnel of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense will increase by an average of 22.8% after taxes and other mandatory payments are deducted, APA reports.
This is reflected in a draft law on amendments to the Tax Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the laws “On the Status of Military Personnel,” “On Police,” “On Approval of the Regulations on Service in Customs Authorities,” “On Service in Prosecutor’s Offices,” “On Approval of the Regulations on Service in the Internal Affairs Bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” “On Intelligence and Counterintelligence Activities,” “On Service in Justice Bodies,” “On Approval of the Regulations on Service in Migration Authorities,” and “On Service in Emergency Authorities,” which was submitted for discussion at the Milli Majlis Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption.
Under the proposed new approach, the link between the amount of pension and monetary allowance will be eliminated, and pension amounts will be calculated based on the pension capital recorded in individual personal accounts.
The position salary, which currently serves as the base salary, will be replaced by the rank salary, with the share of the rank salary increasing to 70%. This is expected to further improve the welfare of military personnel and encourage them to serve longer.
