According to the State Border Service, 1.586 million foreigners and stateless persons from 191 countries arrived in the Republic of Azerbaijan in January-August 2026, down 7.8% compared with the corresponding period last year, the State Statistical Committee told APA.
Of the arrivals, 27.9% were citizens of the Russian Federation, 19.4% Türkiye, 7.8% Iran, 4.8% Georgia, 4.6% Kazakhstan, 3.5% Israel, 3.4% Pakistan, 3.2% Uzbekistan, 2.6% each China and India, 2.5% Saudi Arabia, 1.6% Ukraine, 1.3% Turkmenistan, 1.1% Germany, 1.0% the United Kingdom, while 12.7% were citizens of other countries and stateless persons. Men accounted for 66.9% of arrivals and women for 33.1%.
Compared with January-August 2025, the number of arrivals from European Union member states increased by 6.6% to 77,800 in January-August 2026, while the number of arrivals from CIS countries rose by 3.1% to 619,500. The number of arrivals from Gulf countries decreased by 33.3% to 192,000, while arrivals from other countries fell by 8.2% to 696,700.
Of the foreigners and stateless persons who arrived in Azerbaijan, 73.1% travelled by air, 25.5% by rail and road, and 1.4% by sea.
