Businesses and governments are currently reconsidering where to invest, which areas to prioritize, whom to trade with, and which relationships to trust, Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said during his speech at a session titled “Rebuilding Trust in a Fragmented World: Azerbaijan as a Strategic Gateway Across Regions” as part of the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, APA-Economics reports.
According to the minister, this process is taking place at a time when the form of globalization is changing.
“Cost and efficiency remain important. At the same time, the reliability of partners and the resilience of supply chains are becoming increasingly important in economic decision-making,” Mikayil Jabbarov noted.
He said Azerbaijan's response to these challenges is to build on trust shaped through long-term partnerships, strengthen ties between regions, and use these connections to create added value on a broader scale beyond transit and connectivity opportunities.
