Yashar Vahabzada: I am ready to resign
# 23 October 2007 13:05 (UTC +04:00)
“Everyone wants the junior national teams to be coached by the foreign specialists. I do not consider it is the solution to the problem”, Azerbaijan national U-17 team head coach Yashar Vahabzada told APA-Sport.
According to him the development of the local football requires implementing different methods. “ I think sport schools should improve the level of their trainings. U-17 team is formed on the basis of club footballers and sport schools. Those footballers do not know elementary football knowledge”.
Vahabzada emphasized that the national team will not benefit from foreign coaches. He showed Georgia case as an example of it.
“Both Georgia national team and U-17 are being coached by the coach from Germany. During this time Georgia failed even to advance to second stage in the European championship”.
Yashar Vahabzada said he is ready to step down for foreign coach. “ I wish good luck to the man who will replace me. I would resign happily”.
The head coach said it is not exact whether he will sign a new contra ct with AFFA. “AFFA will discuss this issue soon. The decision on my activity in the team will be made following the negotiations”.
Yashar Vahabzada is the head coach for U-17 since December, 2005. U-17 advanced to the second stage in the European championship under his ruling. His contract with AFAF will expire on October 31.
