Discussions with potential investors will begin at the next stage of creating green energy corridors, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov said during the session titled “Regional Energy Connectivity and Green Transition: Challenges and Opportunities” held as part of the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026), APA reports.
According to him, the implementation of cross-border energy projects requires the alignment of countries’ political will, coordination among transmission system operators and regulatory authorities, as well as the attraction of private investment.
The deputy minister noted that, regarding the private-sector component of the projects, ensuring returns on investment for investors and guarantees for long-term energy purchases are among the key issues.
Zeynalov said that the projects connecting Central Asia, the Caspian and Black Sea regions with Europe do not compete with one another but rather complement each other.
“These projects do not compete with each other; they complement one another,” Orkhan Zeynalov emphasized.
According to him, preliminary discussions with potential stakeholders in the project will begin in the coming months. In the Central Asian direction, this work is expected to begin next year.
The deputy minister added that establishing mechanisms that ensure a long-term perspective and clear return conditions for investors is of great importance for the implementation of these projects.
