The final investment decision on the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor is expected to be made in 2029, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov said during the session titled “Regional Energy Connectivity and Green Transition: Challenges and Opportunities” held as part of the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026), APA reports.
The minister said that the feasibility study for the Caspian–Black Sea–Europe Green Energy Corridor, with a total transmission capacity of approximately 4.4 GW, has confirmed the project’s technical and economic feasibility.
According to him, the corridor is planned to be commissioned in stages between 2032 and 2040.
Parviz Shahbazov noted that once the corridor becomes fully operational, it will enable the export of more than 20 TWh of electricity annually.
The minister emphasized that the significance of the project is not limited to electricity transmission and that it will connect energy systems, economies and investment opportunities between Azerbaijan and Europe.
