Nino Tsilosani thanks Azerbaijan for support for Georgia’s territorial integrity

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met today with a delegation led by Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Nino Tsilosani, who is visiting Azerbaijan, the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.

During the meeting, Sahiba Gafarova said that the historically established friendly and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are successfully developing today based on mutual trust and strategic partnership.

It was noted that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Georgia consistently emphasize the strategic importance of bilateral relations. In this regard, it was noted that reciprocal visits at the highest and high levels play an important role in the development of relations. It was stated that the recent state visit of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva to Georgia carried important political messages in terms of regional cooperation and that the friendship and brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Georgia serve to further strengthen cooperation in the region.

Nino Tsilosani expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It was emphasized that the statement issued by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the so-called elections held in the occupied territories of Georgia was highly appreciated and that this position constituted an important political message.

It was noted that interparliamentary relations are one of the important areas of Azerbaijan-Georgia relations. It was also noted that the presentation of the Georgian Parliament’s “Order of Honor” to Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova is an indication of the high level of interparliamentary relations.
