The risk assessment of Azerbaijan’s banking sector has improved significantly in recent years, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Taleh Kazimov said during a session titled “International Financial Cooperation: Strengthening Partnerships for Economic Growth” held as part of the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

Taleh Kazimov noted that, according to S&P Global Ratings’ Banking Industry Country Risk Assessment (BICRA), Azerbaijan’s banking sector moved from Group 9 at the end of 2023 to Group 7 in 2026.

Taleh Kazimov said that this change indicates a significant improvement in the risk assessment of Azerbaijan’s banking sector.

The Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan added that efforts to improve the regulatory framework, increase transparency, and strengthen the protection of consumers and investors in the banking sector have also been positively assessed by international credit rating agencies.
