“Azerbaijan and Georgia have not yet reached an agreement on holding friendly match on September 12, in Baku,” vice-president of Georgian Football Federation Gogi Kavtaradze told APA’s Georgia bureau.
The federation official confirmed that they got a proposal from AFFA but it is early to speak about it.
“We know that Azerbaijan is seeking a rival, after UEFA cancelled the games with Armenia in the framework of European championship qualifiers. We really got proposal from Azerbaijan. But I can not say whether we will visit Baku or not. The federation has not yet made up its mind. Head coach Klaus Topmoller makes up the plan of Georgian national team’s test matches. If Topmoller agrees we will meet against Azerbaijan,” he said,
Kavtaradze underlined that Georgian team will have a friendly match with Luxemburg on August 22 and play against Ukraine in the framework of European championship. He noted that friendly match with five-fold Brazilian team did not take place due to financial problems.
“Brazilian football officials wanted us to pay a great amount of money so that the team can arrive in Tbilisi. We will discuss friendly match with Brazil next year again,” he said.
Chief of AFFA National Teams Department Bahruz Asgarov told APA-Sport agency that Georgian Football Federation sent a letter and officially agreed to the match.
“You said Georgians have not made up their minds. But their fax is on my table now, Georgian national team officially agreed to arrive in Baku on September 12,” he said. /APA-Sport/
