“The opening of international airports in the liberated territories in recent years has led to an increase in the transportation of transit cargo,” Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov said during the panel session titled “Middle Corridor: Unlocking Trade, Industry and Connectivity Potential” held as part of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA reports.
He said that Azerbaijan has the largest commercial air fleet in the region: “A leading airline operates in the field of regional cargo transportation, with significant annual cargo capacity. However, infrastructure alone does not create a competitive route. This requires countries along the route to coordinate their policies and decisions. This, in turn, means building strong partnerships with neighboring countries."
Elnur Mammadov noted that this is precisely why Azerbaijan's relations with Central Asian countries have become increasingly important in this context. Azerbaijan's accession to the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia as a full-fledged member reflects a deeper reality: Azerbaijan is becoming part of common integration processes and further strengthening this integration."
