One of the key advantages of the Alat Free Economic Zone is its special legislative framework, Chairman of the Board of the Alat Free Economic Zone Authority Valeh Alasgarov said during a panel discussion at the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum (AIIF 2026) in Baku, APA reports.
He said that Azerbaijan's favorable geographical location is one of the main advantages of the Alat Free Economic Zone. According to him, the zone is located at the intersection of major North-South and East-West transport routes and offers investors various transport and logistics opportunities.
Valeh Alasgarov noted that, along with railway and other transport opportunities, the establishment of a cargo airport in the Alat Free Economic Zone will also make it possible to attract high-tech industries.
He emphasized that one of the main advantages of the Alat Free Economic Zone for investors is its special legislative framework.
“Special legislation applies in the Alat Free Economic Zone. This ensures that the rules for investors remain stable over the long term. No one should be concerned that the rules of the game will change in three, five or ten years,” Alasgarov said.
The Chairman of the Board noted that the main objective of the Alat Free Economic Zone is to attract companies that create high added value and export their products mainly to foreign markets.
According to him, the special conditions created are aimed at protecting the interests of Azerbaijan's small and medium-sized businesses while also bringing new technologies and high-value-added industries to the country.
Alasgarov added that transport and logistics infrastructure, a special legal regime and protection of investors' activities enable the Alat Free Economic Zone to contribute to creating new production and export opportunities in Azerbaijan.
