US views TRIPP as important tool for reducing geostrategic risks - Chargé d'Affaires

The US government's investments in TRIPP demonstrate its commitment to the project, US Chargé d'Affaires in Azerbaijan Amy Carlon said during the panel discussion titled “Middle Corridor: Unlocking Trade, Industry and Connectivity Potential,” held as part of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA reports.

Speaking about the TRIPP project, Amy Carlon said that the initiative is not merely a name or a formal project created for international prosperity.

“The fact that we are creating a new entity, investing in it and ensuring that it will be economically sustainable in the future demonstrates how seriously we take this issue,” she said.

The US official said that part of the project's financing consists of a $201 million fund. According to her, one of the fund's main objectives is to attract private investors.

“This will help attract private-sector interest and investment in this direction,” Amy Carlon emphasized.

She also touched upon the role of the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) and the US Export-Import Bank (EXIM) in implementing the project.

“These institutions can use financial instruments such as loans and guarantees, as well as risk insurance for US companies. In doing so, they will increase companies' confidence in making such investments and assume some of the risks that arise at the initial stage of such projects,” the diplomat said.

According to Amy Carlon, the funding allocated and resources committed by the US government to the TRIPP project demonstrate Washington's commitment to the initiative.

“The scale of the US government's investment in this project, the time and effort it has devoted, as well as the association of the project with President Donald Trump's name, demonstrate how seriously we take this initiative,” she said.

The diplomat added that the US views TRIPP as an important tool for reducing geostrategic risks and increasing trust in the region.
