The Azerbaijan-Syria Business Council has been established, Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar said during the panel session titled “Shaping the Future of Global Growth, Investment and Connectivity” at the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, APA reports.
The Minister said that Syria is restoring its economic ties with the world and seeking to attract foreign investment to the country.
According to him, Syria is currently rebuilding its economy and updating its legislation to make it more favorable for investors.
“We are not just looking for capital. We are looking for smart capital, better-quality capital and partnerships. We are not looking for aid. We are looking for investors who will partner with us,” the Minister emphasized.
Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar noted that Syria is also seeking to restore the technology transfer it has lost over the past 15 years.
The Minister also touched upon the development of economic relations between Syria and Azerbaijan. He said that the establishment of the Syria-Azerbaijan Business Council is one of the steps taken in this direction.
He added that Syria invites foreign investors to the country.
