A session titled “Rebuilding trust in a fragmented world: Azerbaijan as a strategic gateway between regions” was organized as part of the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, held under the patronage of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

During the session, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov drew attention to changes taking place in the global economic environment, Azerbaijan’s role in regional and international economic relations, the expansion of investment opportunities, and the development of the country’s position in production and regional value chains. It was emphasized that stability and macroeconomic resilience in Azerbaijan, the country’s growing international standing, the strategic projects it has initiated whose value extends beyond its borders, and the fulfillment of commitments are laying solid foundations for productive investment and closer integration into regional value chains. Azerbaijan’s energy and transport-logistics capabilities are expanding the country’s role in interregional economic cooperation and in the formation of new investment ties.

As part of the session, a high-level discussion titled “Global Economic Outlook” was held between economist and strategist Nouriel Roubini, CEO of Roubini Macro Associates, and Pedro Vargas David, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews. The discussion reviewed changes taking place in the global economic landscape and the key trends affecting the development of the world economy and investment processes.

The session continued with a presentation titled “Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus: A Central Hub for Investment Growth” by Valerio De Molli, CEO and Managing Partner of The European House – Ambrosetti & TEHA Group.

During the high-level panel discussion titled “Shaping the Future of Global Growth, Investment and Connectivity,” moderated by Euronews Managing Editor Jane Witherspoon, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov said that against the backdrop of global investment flows, Azerbaijan is systematically pursuing regional integration through its peace agenda, the development of transport and logistics, as well as the formation of a digital economy environment. It was noted that the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway has been reconstructed and its capacity increased severalfold, while the Baku International Sea Trade Port has been expanded. As a result, the country’s transit volumes have reached their highest level in recent years. Information was also provided on the opportunities created for investors by the Alat Free Economic Zone. The minister also highlighted the tools being applied in the country to diversify exports, expand sales markets, and reduce the capital and operating costs of investors and entrepreneurs, noting that investment promotion mechanisms are being directed toward priority sectors.

Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Communications Aleem Khan, North Macedonia’s Minister of Economy and Labour Besar Durmishi, Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry Mohammad Nidal al-Shaar, and Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda participated in the discussion.
