Azeri squad captain Aslan Kerimov: UEFA decision did not let us increase points

“We didn’t expect UEFA to pass a decision on cancellation of the matches between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We prepared for the matches scheduled for 8 and 12 September”, Azerbaijan squad head coach Shahin Diniyev told APA-Sport.
Diniyev said it is not right to comment on the issue now.
“UEFA has already passed a decision. I don’t think it is right to discuss details now. The matches between Azerbaijan and Armenia were of no importance according to the standings anyway. That’s why it is not a big deal to get no points for the cancelled encounters”, he said.
Azerbaijan squad captain Aslan Kerimov told APA-Sport that they are not much interested in the decision.
“UEFA decision neither favors no harms us. It is not up to footballers to decide whether to play or not. We would play with pleasure if UEFA had decided otherwise. Azeri party is not afraid of matches against Armenia. It would be a great responsibility for us to play against the rival of principle. The parties had equal chances. But I think we could have scored 3-4 points in the matches. That’s why the decision did not let us to increase our points”, he said. /APA-Sport/
